Tasting Thanks...

Many thanks to everyone who attended our wine tasting on Friday 23rd June...

Our Special Guest was Albert from Solera Wines
who played a blinder with his excellent wine selections.

The wines we tasted:

Whites
1. Jean Paul Seguin Sauvignon Blanc 2021
    RRP19.99 (France)
2. Babich Black Label Sauvignon Blanc 2022
    RRP25.99  (New Zealand)
3. Altos de Torona Godello 2020
    RRP19.99 (Spain)

Rosé
4. Delibori Chiaretto di Bardolino 2022
    RRP17.99 (Italy)

Reds
5. Villa des Croix Pinot Noir 2021
    RRP18.99 (France)
6. Babich Black Label Pinot Noir 2021
    RRP29.99 (New Zealand)
7. Roda Rioja Reserva 2019
    RRP39.99 (Spain)

Everyone had their favourites and it was very interesting to compare the 2 Sauvignon Blanc wines and the 2 Pinot Noirs.

The Loire Valley Sauvignon was fresh
and crisp with soft mineral fruit,
where the Marlborough wine
was jumping out of the glass, with exuberant
and intense fruit character.

The Galician Godello showed very well and is
definitely one to try if you're an Albarino fan.

I love Bardolino rosé as it always
makes me dream of looking out
over Lake Garda, in the glorious Italian sunshine.

The French Pinot was subtle, fruit-forward and summery where the New Zealand Pinot was full, richer and bigger, with a lovely toasty oaky profile.

Albert saved the best until last and served us Roda Rioja Reserva 2019 from magnum!!
What a treat!
All the Roda wines are great,
as are their Corimbo wines from Ribera del Duero.

Our next tasting is on Friday 14th July,
Bastille Day! So we'll have a French theme...
